Creative Partnerships Beaconsfield (CPB) is group of like-minded local residents who want to inject more creative arts into the community,
impart new skills and bring people out of isolation. Our goal is to plan a colourful trail of mosaics that thank the town’s keyworkers, in particular medical personnel for their selfless service during this critical time.
Join us!
So far, we have made these three large mosaics for Beaconsfield
The Angel found outside the new medical centre on the A40
The Library Mosaic, outside the library
in the new town
The Doves on St Thomas Church in Holtspur where they have a cafe called The Dove Cafe
All three have been made with tiles decorated by residents including:
Year 8 The Beaconsfield School
Year 6 Holtspur Primary School
Women’s Institute
Bradbury House Care Home
Jack and Jill
NHS staff of the Simpson Centre and Milbarn Medical Centre
We have set up stalls at:
The library
Summer Town fair
Free methodist church
Dove Cafe
so that local people of all ages and backgrounds can easily participate.
Over 1000 people helped make these beautiful mosaics which have been deigned
and put together by the brilliant Maud Milton of Artyface London.
Maud specialises in community art and has worked with Transport for London and
various councils around the UK.
Every clay tile features patterns or words that have been printed by Beaconsfield people.
Do get up close and read them or touch them.
The majority of those who take part in mosaic-making workshops comment on how much they enjoy the experience. Many tell us they particularly like being included on this community initiative.
Playing with clay is both calming and gently creative - you don’t have to be an artist to make patterns or write a meaningful message. Plus the workshops bring all sorts of people together and give you a reason to get out of your house and leave all your cares behind!
Our aim is to bring people out of isolation. Following on from the trauma of national lockdowns and the Covid pandemic, this is still a challenge. Too many people out there struggle with loneliness or poor mental health. Projects like these give people a chance to get out of their house, leave their cares behind and focus on a simple but engaging task. Seeing your tile alongside those of other people who live here really enhances that feeling of togetherness.
We hope people will enjoy seeing them and as more appear around the town, we will form a trail so you can take them all in during a walk or bike ride.
We are in the middle of making four more mosaics that will form a trail around the new town. Hundreds more people have taken part. They will be located at:
Here is how they are looking as they are being worked on:
We will be launching the new town trail at the end of August.
Check back for a beautifully made map for you and your family to do as you visit the new mosaics and walk the trail.
These will be available throughout the town from the beginning of September 2024
What’s next for Mosaics?
We hope to do another walking trail in the Beaconsfield Old town and Holtspur. This trail will connect the Angel at the medical centre, with the Doves in Holtspur and the existing ground mosaics outside Pizza Express and the Saracen’s Head.
